Yonit Olshan, CalArts

Yonit Olshan is a costume designer who explores sculptural silhouettes, alternative materials, and spatial transformation within her designs.

Growing up in Israel, Yonit gained a global cultural appreciation which inspired her interest in folklore and spectacle performances.  Recent collaborations at CalArts includes: Jackie directed by Blake Harris, The Glass Mountain directed by Jonghee Woo, Choreographer Rosanna Gamson’s Still/ Restless presented at REDCAT, and Edgar Arceneux’s UNTIL UNTIL UNTIL presented by the Center for New Performance, and Performa in NYC.  Yonit was the first recipient of the Bachelors Degree in InterArts Performance from the University of Michigan, where she merged her love of theatre and sculpture to explore visual story telling and character creation.   Through her work, Yonit invites audiences to share in experiences that transcend language and create new connections through the powerful integration of costumes and wearable art.
