Born and raised in Mexico City, Carolina Ortiz Herrera is a Lighting Designer, whose profound curiosity in understanding the complex human experience enhances her work in theatre, opera, music, and dance.
The collectiveness and immediacy of the theatrical experience is the reason she fell in love with the art of telling stories through light, a vehicle she thinks opens the possibilities of expression beyond words.
Recent credits include: Seven Guitars (Yale Repertory Theatre), Skin of our Teeth, Women Beware Women, Titus Andronicus, Some Bodies Travel, and The Troublesome Reign of King John (Yale School of Drama). Her designs at Yale Cabaret include: In the Red & Brown Water, Lake Kelsey Musical, The Slow Sound of Snow, Trouble into Tahiti, Caught, and The Untitled Project.
Carolina was a finalist for the Rolex Mentor & Protégé Arts Initiative in 2013, and holds a BA in Theatre from UCLA.
